The Humboldt State University Student Ambassador program is a vital part of the outreach efforts fostered by the Office of Admission. The Ambassadors are a select group of currently enrolled students that represent the different cultures, majors, and personal interest of our student body. Power Shift/Focus the Nation
In February we sent 5 students to Washington DC to attend Power Shift 2009, a climate change and sustainability conference hosted by the Energy Action Coalition. One of the primary goals of the Energy Action Coalition is to make politicians aware that we, the young adults of the United States, care about the environment and demand policies to promote sustainability. Here at Humboldt, our club works to spread the knowledge we gained by attending this conference and also to participate in upcoming campaigns put on by the Energy Action Coalition.

Seibukan Jujutsu Club
We are devoted to practicing the martial art of Seibukan Jujutsu. Seibukan is an art form which takes into account the needs of the modern day warrior. Practitioners will learn to protect them selves from one, or multiple, armed, or unarmed assailants. Through the practice of Awareness, Assessment, and Appropriate Action, students will learn how to assert them selves peacefully and powerfully to resolve a conflict with minimal injury to the assailants while protecting themselves.

Delta Phi Epsilon Sorority

Fantasy Gamers Guild
Fantasy Gamers Guild is a social networking group that focuses on Gamers. On Fridays we play table top role playing games and there are some people who LARP during that time. On Tuesdays we meet and play Strategy Board Games.
Ski and Snowboard Club
The Ski& Snowboard Club acts as an outlet for students interested in those sports, as well as for students and community members interested in the culture surrounding those respective sports.
Religious Studies Club
The Religious Studies Club is chartered to enhance the learning, recreational, and social opportunities for Religious Studies Students in particular and for the HSU community in general.
Renewable Energy Student Union (RESU)
RESU is a student club at Humboldt State University dedicated to the promotion of research, education and application of clean renewable energy technologies and energy conservation. We seek opportunities for hands on learning and community involvement to further our academic experience. All of our projects are student directed.
Botany and Native Plants Club
The Botany and Native Plants Club is a group of students, faculty, staff, and community members that are interested in plants. The club hosts workshops, potlucks (affectionately named bot-lucks), and trips to explore the natural plant life around us.
Humboldt Juggling Society
The Humboldt Juggling Society seeks to bring people together to learn, teach and share knowledge about the many fields of Object Manipulation. The Juggling Society focuses on hosting the FREE Humboldt Juggling Festival every Spring, and often works closely with the Humboldt Circus to host fundraisers for the event. All are welcome, come to our meeting times to learn and play! No prior skills necessary!
The Service Learning Club
SO you probably have an urge to help out in the community or to just be involved for whatever reason. You were excited to join the Y.E.S. House but you couldn’t dedicate the semester long commitment?! Well, that is where the Service Learning Center and Club comes in! We work with you (and your club/organization) and your time to accommodate your needs to provide service opportunities around the community that will be centered on your area of interest. The Service Learning interns will work closely with you so that we can provide you the resources necessary for you to participate and have a fulfilling service experience! In other words come to the Service Learning Center, tell us what you would like to do or participate in, we do all the middle work (contacting community partners, setting up date and location, etc), and then you show up to your service event/day! It doesn’t get any easier than that!!
One World Community
The goal of this club is to provide support for non-profit organizations that address problems facing today’s world. This will be accomplished through many different avenues, including fund raising and community education. Anything is possible with a motivated group of people who are willing to work!

Northwest Primate Conservation Society
The goal of the Northwest Primate Conservation Society is to promote the conservation of non-human primates and their habitat through education, awareness, and fundraising efforts. Our club is incredibly active, and are hosting a Primate Conservation Speaker Series this year. We also collect cell phones in order to reduce the amount of coltan used in their production. These are then sent to the Dianne Fossey Gorilla Fund for recycling. The students inolved this year are particularly interested in saving the last 700 mountain gorillas, and we send money to Wildlife Direct in order to support the forest rangers in the Congo who work to protect these amazing creatures. Last summer our club participated in Semillas Del Futuro, a non-profit organization co-developed by Katharine Fountain, which supports Costa Rican high school students in conservation training and reforestation efforts. Nine HSU students last summer planted 130 trees at a high school in Palmitas, Costa Rica, and built a tree nursery.

The Ballet Folklórico de Humboldt is a student club whose purpose is to learn, promote and demonstrate traditional Mexican folkloric dance.
Youth Educational Services
Youth Educational Services began in 1968 in the age of student activism and empowerment. Its mission then and now is to provide free services to a broad spectrum of local residents, ranging from youth to elderly. Y.E.S. offers you the opportunity to make a difference in this community as a volunteer of one or our 14 different programs. Our programs were all created by students who identified a particular need in the community that was not being met. Your commitment could be as little as a few hours during the year or could involve two or more hours per week with a specific focus. It is also a great way to make new friends and even work toward career goals.

About Us
Join a group of HSU student divers interested in SCUBA and the ocean. This is a great place to meet other HSU students who dive or learn more about the HSU SCUBA program and its participants. Any aqua-holic looking to meet people who love all things “ocean” including SCUBA, freediving, surfing, fishing, and who want to participate in local marine conservation and preservation efforts, including Reef Check CA, is always welcome.
We plan club activities at our weekly meetings. You do not need to be certified to join us at the meetings or in club events. More information is available if you would like to dive in club sponsored dives. Please email for info.
Newman Center: Catholic Student Group
The HSU Newman Center is – a University place where Christian fellowship and Catholic worship are celebrated; We, the members of the HSU Newman Center, are here to serve and encourage to service the students, faculty, staff, and local community of Humboldt State University. In addition to weekly worship, prayer opportunities, and a program of events, the center provides a warm environment where students, faculty and staff may study, talk, visit with friends, or just get away from the pressures of the residence halls, classrooms and other gathering places of our campus.
The HSU Newman Center has been part of the HSU community since 1972.
The Newman Center is a registered student organization which participates fully in the life of the University and a functioning Catholic community which provides all the services of a traditional Catholic parish for members of the university community and others who choose to be a part of our primary mission“to be the presence of Christ on the Humboldt State University Campus.”
Cellular/Molecular Biology Club
We discuss current topics in cellular/molecular biology, learn about career development in related fields, and conduct a science outreach program to local high-school students.
Fencing Club
The Fencing Club was first established at Humboldt State University in 1955, making it one of the oldest clubs on campus. Since its inception, it has been organized as a non-profit for the betterment of its members. Currently, we fundraise to travel (as far as New York City), organize club parties, buy new practice equipment, buy club apparel and provide pizza for movie nights. We spend our money, however, on fun events so that our practice times are focused on training. Our instructor, Antone Blair, teaches a classical style of fencing not taught many other places in the united states, not to mention the west coast. We teach French and Italian foil, Italian and Spanish rapier, French smallsword, epee, sabre, spanish folding knife, and longsword. The fencing club is a great opportunity to get to know students from many disciplines while learning a rare and historical art.
Campus Center for Appropriate Technology
CCAT is a demonstrational living home for sustainable technology. We are student run and student funded with 3 resident co-directors and a handful of employees. CCAT’s mission is to research and demonstrate techniques for living lightly on the earth. Volunteers and community support are core to CCAT’s success and there are tons of ways you can get involved! CCAT offers classes, free community workshops, and asks for volunteer help every friday.

The HSU College Conservatives, formerly the College Republicans, are dedicated to advancing the conservative viewpoint on campus, and providing support and advocacy for members of this minority. We believe in small government, capitalism, freedom of speech, and personal responsibility.

Gamma Alpha Omega Sorority, Inc. is a Corporation founded to serve its Members, the University, and the surrounding communities. Its main objective is to help each member graduate from the university and to support the Hispanic/Latino communities as well as other communities in need, emphasizing on the youth.
We hope to provide a link to higher education and to strengthen the future of society through education. The objective of Gamma Alpha Omega Sorority, Inc. is to guide its Members to instill in themselves and maintain the values of Honesty, Integrity, Leadership, Scholarship and Unity.
HUMBOLDT LACROSSE CLUB
The Humboldt State Men’s Lacrosse Club was founded in the Spring of 1983 by James Kircher and John Mahoney, both who played at Saint Ignatius College Prep School in the Bay area. Since its inception, the lacrosse club has worked to inspire and build interest in lacrosse at both the college and youth level in rural northern California communities. Currently, we travel throughout the Pacific Northwest to play lacrosse in both the Fall and Spring against teams from the PNCLL and WCLL. We also do outreach to the local community to help spread the sport of lacrosse by organizing lacrosse tournaments, giving presentations at local elementary and high schools, and hosting lacrosse clinics throughout the Northcoast.

Brothers United
Brothers United (BU) is a community based, cultural club here at HSU. We are made up of strong Black men working to become leaders in our community. BU was formed in the intent to unite mainly brothers of color but welcome anyone willing to join. We are a club dedicated to community service, unity, brotherhood, and aim to enrich ourselves as one, culturally, socially, politically and intellectually. Brothers United, BU, Unity.
Greek Council
The HSU Unified Greek Council brings together all of the officially recognized Greek Organizations to plan events and unite as a community. We take part in community service, fundraising and social gatherings to benefit the Greek Community.
