Responsible for protecting the lives of every person who is on the campus
The University Police Department has developed the Survival Actions For Emergencies (S.A.F.E.) Program to assist campus building occupants to respond safely to a wide range of emergencies. Building Coordinators on campus are provided a standardized methodology and guidelines with which to tailor individual building plans and train appropriate personnel. The SAFE program focuses on each building or cluster of small buildings as a planning and organizational unit because it is the most functional self-help unit in an emergency. The program identifies and trains faculty, staff and students as a "Response Team" within each building (or group of buildings) to deal with the initial response to emergencies. UPD assists in the development of the SAFE program for each building.
