An education at Humboldt State University is not only to obtain scholastic excellence but becoming a well integrated member of society. Here at the MultiCultural Center, our mission is not only to uphold that vision but to build, nurture and sustain an inclusive "multicultural" community. Especially in the diverse world we live in today, we must learn to celebrate and honor the diversity of people.
The MultiCultural Center (MCC), a student-initiated program, promotes understanding of diversity, celebrates our differences and welcomes multi-ethnic perspectives. Our homey and resource-abundant house is a welcoming place where people are invited to gather to EXPLORE identity and history, EXPERIENCE culture and traditions, EXPRESS feelings and ideas and EMPOWER each other to work for social justice. The MCC is a safe place to express opinions and to challenge the status quo, it provides a place to cross boundaries and eliminate popular stereotypes.
You can also visit our center located on the south side of the Humboldt State University Library in the historic Balabanis family house. Students who are far from home find the MCC's warm embrace comforting and familiar.
