Humboldt State will be your student's home away from home for the next several years. We hope that you will feel at home here, too. At Humboldt State we provide many avenues for family involvement:

Download Current Newsletter: Information for parents regarding campus news, campus calendar and tips for parenting a college student.

Download Parent Handbook: This Handbook has been specially prepared for parents, as a handy guide for important dates, phone numbers, approximate costs and available services. We have also included experiences of some students and staff to help you prepare for the upcoming changes inherent in your daughter or son starting college.

Humboldt Orientation Program Info: Freshman, transfer and parent orientation programs are available and designed especially to meet the individual needs of each group. Our June parent orientation program offers parents and guests the opportunity for an extended stay on campus with a variety of campus and community experiences

Homecoming & Family Weekend: This is a great time to come to campus to visit your son or daughter. This site contains an event itinerary and reservation form. This is also our Homecoming Weekend so there will be a variety of events taking place.

Care Packages: Dining Services at Humboldt State University offer a variety of care packages that you can order for your student. They offer a cookie of the month club, a birthday celebration care package, and a get well pack just to name a few. Parent Network members receive a 10% discount on all HSU Care Packages!

Finals Packs: The Residence Hall Association (RHA) offers Finals Packs each semester. In the past, Finals Packs have had hot beverages, fruits, cookies and cracker snacks along with note pads and pens, just to name a few things. They are created by students for students, and the money made by these packs goes directly to supporting student leadership programs.

Join the Parent Listserv: Parents and Family members interested in receiving periodic updates from the University and in communicating with other parents of HSU students may join the "ParentNetworkHSU" listserv.

Lodging & Transportation: Provided is a list of hotels and motels that offer a discount to HSU families. These discounts are available anytime you are here to visit.
