Amended Lost and Found Services

As of March 1, 2003, the University Police Department will no longer accept most found property due to space and staffing reductions. We will continue to adhere to legislation and orders set forth in the California Civil Code Section 2080.9, Title 5 of the California Administrative Code, section 42375/42376 and the California State University Chancellor's Office Executive Order No. 60. In accordance, the only found property items that will be accepted at UPD are the following:

  • Serialized items
  • Personal identification
  • Wallets
  • Cash
  • Bikes
  • Items valued at over $100.00
  • Keys
  • Computer disks

All departments receiving found property are encouraged to make a reasonable attempt in contacting the owner. Details regarding the CSU's mandates in handling found property can be found at www.calstate.edu/eo/EO-060.pdf.

More information will be made available to the public in the near future.

Any inquiries about this policy should be directed to the Chief of Police or his designee.
