NewsFall 2009A highlight of the Fall semester is always the YES Fall Fest which gathers volunteers from all programs to celebrate their common purpose, to serve the local community. Of course it is a celebration, and that requires fun and food and sharing. The fun came from dressing in Halloween costumes with groups following themes that ranged from crayons to varieties of meats to kids in sleepers to Captain Planet & Gaia & the Planeteers. There were also craft activities to make paper flowers or yarn objects. The food was potluck and offered plenty of variety to appeal to any appetite and provide for good eating. And the sharing consisted of skits or performances by each YES program to illustrate what service they provide to our local communities. The evening culminated in some active games that were made even more enjoyable by seeing all the costumes and all the people trying to participate. Watching over 120 individuals scrambling and engaging, even in the large space of the KBR, was a comical sight. Thanks to all who came for making the evening a truly special event.
