North Coast Music MentorsProgram Weekly MeetingR 5-6pm Downstairs Y.E.S. Program Director & Office HoursRuby Diaz: MR 3-5 Program MissionThe mission of North Coast Music Mentors is to provide free, private, one-on-one music instruction for local youth in the community. This mentorship enables volunteers with musical talent to utilize their skills while enhancing the musical education of others. This program is a pilot program, new to Y.E.S., and working to make community contacts and establish recognition in the area. With recent funding cuts to school and extracurricular activities at school sites, it is hoped that this effort can in some small way help to replace what may be lacking in other musical education opportunities. Service, Goals & ProjectsNorth Coast Music Mentors works with students in the community, especially elementary and middle school aged children. Service involves matching up willing and talented volunteers with children who are eager to learn a new instrument or musical talent. It is hoped that a musical recital can be offered to family and friends of the budding musicians at the end of the term. Upcoming Events or ActivitiesNCMM program is always looking to acquire instruments that community members may no longer use or need so these instruments could be passed on to the children hoping to acquire their own instruments. Anyone who could contribute to this worthy cause is asked to phone the Y.E.S. House with information about their donation. |
